Thousands of runners will fill Fourth Street Downtown on Saturday, Dec. 1,  for the eleventh running of the St. Jude Memphis Marathon.

The elite flat bellies will be checking their watches at the starting line on Beale Street after the Star Spangled Banner is sung.

Slow pokes like me will be a quarter mile back on the overflow section of  participants that will stretch well up on to Union Avenue.

Tony Allen, Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol and Rudy Gay are stretching hundreds of square feet across well-known buildings in the Memphis area.

Fantasy football is typically played online and allows players to virtually manage a team of real life players.  The better a player does in real life, the more points for their fantasy teams.

According to ask.com, nearly 50 million people play fantasy football.  To some, this “sport” has become more popular than the actual game itself. 

So when some of those participants were unable to “manage” their teams this past Sunday, the outcry of frustrated fans was well documented on social media.

One of the largest providers of fantasy football, Yahoo! Sports, experienced technical difficulties with their computer servers. 

Preventing those who participate in their fantasy football leagues from making changes to their rosters before the noon NFL games began. 

Prime time, for many “owners” who chose to wait until the last minute to set their team lineups to account for injuries or last minute news that might affect game play.

Grizzlies to host food drive at FedEx Forum

The Memphis Grizzlies are giving you a chance to give back, teaming up with ACH Food Companies for a canned food drive to benefit the Mid-South Food Bank.

Fans are asked to bring canned food items to FedEx Forum Friday, Nov.16 before the team's game against the New York Knicks.

Memphis of 'Grit and Grind Grizzlies Nation' who make a nonperishable food or cash donation will receive a “buy-one-get-one” ticket voucher to their choice of either the Grizzlies’ contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, Nov. 26, the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, Nov. 28 or the Detroit Pistons on Friday, Nov. 30.
