More than 200 diagnosed with flu at Le Bonheur Hospital | Health

Doctors at Le Bonheur Children's hospital say Memphis is being hit hard with the flu this year.

It follows fairly mild flu seasons throughout the past few years.

Doctors say this is one of the more severe years in at least a decade, with children being admitted in large numbers at LeBonheur.

"Right now hundreds of kids in the emergency room this week. We've had over 200 diagnoses of flu. Eight to 10 admitted to the hospital a day and two in intensive care. It's really hitting Memphis hard," said Dr. John McCullers.

It's not clear why the flu has emerged so strongly in Memphis. But doctors recommend if you haven't gotten your flu shot, that there is still time.
