(WMC-TV) – This upcoming week has been proclaimed “Tennessee Severe Weather Awareness Week” by Governor Bill Haslam.

From Sunday, February 17 through Friday, February 22, a specific safety topic or weather hazard will be highlighted.

The Shelby County Office of Preparedness, in cooperation with the State of Tennessee and the National Weather Service are encouraging citizens to prepare themselves and their families now and become educated about severe weather threats to our area.

A statewide tornado drill will take place on February 20, and citizens are invited to participate in the drill.
