Crime Victim Services Administrator Honored

The Administrator of Shelby County Government’s Crime Victim Services was honored last week for her exemplary leadership.

Anna Whalley was recipient of the Leadership Award from the Tennessee Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence.

Whalley has been with Shelby County Government since 1995.  During that time, she helped establish new community coalitions to assist crime victims and developed more effective ways for Shelby County law enforcement agencies to partner with crime victims.  Whalley also helped create the Memphis and Shelby County “Family Safety Center,” which will open in a few months.  The center will house several agencies that assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Ms. Whalley received her award from the coalition during a ceremony last week at the Frist Center for Visual Arts in Nashville.

D.A. to investigate weekend shooting near Beale Street club

(WMC-TV) - The District Attorney's office has some questions for a Memphis club with a history of problems, after six people were injured in a shootout near the club over the weekend.

Club Crave has been open for about a month, and already Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich has a case to consider.

"It will be looked at by our office," Weirich said Monday. "The police had to get involved."

Early Sunday morning, five people were shot in a parking lot next to the club. Police shot a sixth when they say she did not drop her gun.
