15 car break-ins reported across one block downtown

"15 cars is excessive," Knight said.

Thursday, police caught three men in the act of a car burglary, after officers at the Real Time Crime Center watched a live video feed of two men busting a window and raiding a car on Madison near the ballpark.

Deputies increase patrols over Thanksgiving

Whether you live in Tennessee or are just passing through, drivers beware. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with law enforcement agencies across the state between now and the busy Thanksgiving travel weekend to crack down on traffic safety violations.

More Cops, More Stops is the state’s latest campaign to help save more lives on our roadways. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office will be out in force to remind all drivers and passengers to not drink and drive, always buckle up, obey the speed limit, and eliminate all distractions in the vehicle while driving.

Stopping and arresting alcohol-impaired drivers will be a top priority of the campaign. In 2009, nearly one-third of those killed in crashes on our Tennessee highways involved drivers or motorcycle operators with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or above at the time of the deadly crash.

Man shot in drive-by shooting after leaving Club Crave

(WMC-TV) - Officers responded to a shots fired call and discovered a man shot at the East end of Beale Street just outside the entertainment district Saturday.

"I'm here for the first time on Beale Street and I'm shocked there would be violence right here next to such a populated area, a busy area," said tourist Bruce Walker.

According to Memphis police, two victims were walking away from Club Crave when a gray car drove past, firing several shots.  One victim, a 23-year-old male, was wounded

The car then sped off.  The victims did not know who was shooting at them or why.

"It's crazy," said Memphis resident Derrick Clark.  "People just don't know how to act nowadays."

Club Crave has had its share of negative attention for recent crimes committed in the area.  Last month, four people were arrested after an attack on an off-duty Memphis police officer outside the club.
