(WMC-TV) – A former worker in the Shelby County Court Clerk’s Office was ordered to pay more than a million dollars in restitution after he pled guilty to embezzlement.

Correy Isom, 35, was sentenced to 46 months in prison in a Memphis courtroom Friday.

(WMC-TV) – Live music is typically the star of the show on Beale Street, but police say a West Memphis woman’s lewd activity drew quite a crowd on the famous street over the weekend.

Officers say they watched as Twyla Ware stood in the middle of a crowd near the intersection of Beale Street and South Third and raised her dress.

Mississippi River swimmers put hazmat boat on lockdown

(WMC-TV) – Two Memphis men were arrested Thursday after they decided to dive into the Mississippi River and swim their way to New Orleans, according to court records.

One of the thousands of people attending the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest spotted the men swimming in the river and alerted officers who were patrolling Tom Lee Park.

Police tried to get the Richard Prince and Roberto Ferie to swim back to the shore. However, instead of getting out of the water, the men told officers that they were swimming to New Orleans.

The City of Memphis is hosting a GreenUp Memphis Festival to celebrate all things green.

The festival is designed to commemorating things citizens can do to be more eco-friendly and make Memphis a more attractive place to live.

There will be eco-friendly exhibitors, live entertainment, a food court, children activities, guided downtown hikes and much more.

Police thwart gang fight in public park

A gang attempted to start a large gang fight in a park downtown during the annual Africa in April event Saturday, according to police.

According to the affidavit, Memphis Police were informed that a gang was going to Robert Church Park with harmful intentions.
