Faith leaders, workers urge victims to speak out against wage theft

Information provided by Workers Interfaith Network

As Memphians begin preparing for the Thanksgiving holiday, many workers will face empty tables and eviction notices because employers have stolen their wages.

On Nov. 18 at 1 p.m., Memphians will join in a National Day of Action Against Wage Theft. Wage theft is a crime that every year robs millions of workers out of billions of dollars they’ve worked for but never see. The Memphis event is one of 30 across the country to call attention to this pernicious epidemic and mobilize support for the various efforts to combat it.

Memphis faith leaders, workers, and activists against wage theft will hold a lively press conference that will urge victims of wage theft to come out of the shadows and speak out against their exploitation.
