A Memphis man on his way to court to answer one set of criminal charges picked up another set charges while driving to 201 Poplar.
According to an affidavit of complaint, police noticed a 2008 Chevy Malibu passing traffic on the right shoulder of Interstate 40 near Watkins.
When an officer pulled over the car, driver Cory Hemphill gave the officer his ID and then "advised that he is late for criminal court."
Deputies who were also working the stop found a clear plastic bag with crystal meth in it in the center console of the car.
Hemphill and passenger Tryce Clayborne were both arrested and charged with multiple drug charges.
According to the affidavit of complaint, Clayborne claimed no ownership of the drugs in the car, but took officers back to his hotel room and led them to more crystal meth and a bag of marijuana.
Hemphill is in jail on a $100,000 bond. Clayborne is no longer in jail.
