Man confesses to crime that left victim in coma | Crime
(WMC-TV) - An 18-year-old told police that he took part in a crime so brutal, that it left a man in a coma, according to court records.
Ashton Buford admitted to police that he was part of July a plan to beat and rob a man who lived in the 500 block of Jefferson, investigators said.
According to police, Buford and 3 others stole food from Jessie Wilson's refrigerator and $141 from his home.
Before the robbery, Wilson was severely beaten. He's been comatose at the Med since July 25.
Police say they caught Buford because he committed another robbery just a few days later.
Buford was a suspect in a robbery that happened on July 27 at Poplar and High Street. When questioned about the crime, police developed him as a suspect in the Jefferson robbery.
Buford also confessed to the July 27 crime, according to court records.
Buford has been charged with aggravated robbery, especially aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping.
