"Rockeyfeller Plaza" at AutoZone Park | Community Spirit
The Downtown Memphis Commission and Memphis Redbirds paired together to put a 35 foot tall artificial Christmas tree up at AutoZone Park. The tree in "Rockeyfeller Plaza," will serve as the backdrop for various holiday events including concerts, caroling and more.
A ceremonial 'turn-on-the-lights' party will be held Friday, Nov.16 at 5 p.m. The tree will be lit up, and the party will begin the holiday season Downtown.
The event is free and all are welcome to join in the festivities.
Downtown Elementary School will provide caroling, and the River City Concert Band Brass Ensemble will add to the entertainment. Memphis Mayor A.C. Wharton will be in attendance as well as Rockey Redbird, so come on down and grab some free hot chocolate and hot cider!
Assembly of the tree began on Wednesday, Nov. 7 and was completed on Friday, Nov. 9. Rockeyfeller Plaza will also be the host to many other holiday events this winter, including free concerts by Star & Micey, and the Tennessee Mass Choir.
