Grand opening brings downtown businesses together

Friday night was the gand opening for Klein fitness in the heart of the South Main downtown. But the event was a showcase of a new explosion in downtown businesses.

Klein fitness is taking over the location the was once a gallery for the Memphis College of Art at 338 South Main.

The opening also showcased several of Klein fitness' new neighbors.

Wine and drinks were provided by the Corkscrew.

The walls were decorated with photos of the many sights and sounds downtown from Flash Photography.

Specialty cupcakes were provided by Bit Bakes. They were dubbed "promise cupcakes" because those who ate them, in the spirit of Klein fitness, had to promise to burn the calories.

Paul Morris, president of the Center City Commission, helped cut the ribbon on the new business. He said this is just an indication of the explosive growth seen in downtown Memphis, even through the recent recession.

Corey and Megan Klein say the grand opening and ribbon cutting is just indication of the spirit of cooperation and unity that is felt among downtown business owners.
