New Firehouse Subs to open

New Firehouse Subs to open

Another restaurant is opening on Union Avenue in Midtown Memphis. Firehouse Subs will be the latest restaurant to call Midtown home.

Firehouse Subs is planning to be open by mid-July in the same shopping center as FedEx Office and Verizon Wireless. The space is currently being leased by FedEx Office and will undergo renovations to split the current FedEx Office store into two spaces.

Firehouse Subs has a fast casual restaurant concept.  This will be the sixth Firehouse Subs to open in the Memphis area.  The Union Avenue location will join locations in East Memphis, Germantown, Collierville, on Stage Road in Memphis, and Southaven, Mississippi.

New 'Lounge Place' moving in downtown

New 'Lounge Place' moving in downtown

The Memphis Daily News is reporting the same owners who have brought us Chiwawa, Yo-Lo, and Bella Cafe in the Pink Palace, now are setting their sights on a coffee lounge downtown.

Taylor Berger is partnering with Daniel Flanagan.

The Daily News reports they have signed lease on Gayoso.

The pair told the paper they wanted a loung place downtown saying their is gap for people looking to go out and have drinks but not interested in the bar seen.

They hope a group could walk in order coffee, tea, a beer or some snacks and sandwiches all in one location.

It's scheduled to be open in May with the name Tamp and Tap Room.

You can read more about where the name came from and what new local breweries will be filling the kegs here.
