Victim describes beating away pit bulls with beer bottle

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Kevin Stringfellow will never forget the frightening attack by two pit bulls he suffered Tuesday as he walked from a neighborhood store.

"I saw two dogs coming toward me, and started grabbing me and biting me real hard," he said Wednesday.

Two pit bulls latched on to him, leaving 52 holes in his arm. The dogs even left holes on Stringfellow's pants.

Man dies after pit bull attack

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - One person died after two pit bulls got loose and attacked several people late Tuesday morning near Poplar and Manassas.

According to witnesses, three people, including an elderly man, were attacked by pit bulls that were loose in the area.  Additionally, two paramedics were attacked by the dogs when they were called to the scene to aid the victims.

"I'm very shocked," witness Lisa Stringfellow said. "I'm so nervous right now, I can hardly talk no more."

Action News 5 was on the scene just moments after the attack.  Officials said William Parker and his daughter, 25-year-old Gardenia Parker, were two of the adults bitten by the animals.

"He was in pretty bad shape," said Alvin Benson, Director of Fire Services for the city of Memphis.

Bass Pro President shows Council members renderings of Pyramid location

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - New details released Tuesday outline what visitors will see inside the Bass Pro Shops location at the Pyramid when it opens.

Memphis City Council members were surprised when Bass Pro president Jim Hagale showed up at a committee meeting Tuesday.

"We never wavered in our enthusiasm and our commitment to make something happen with the Pyramid," Hagale said.

Hagale was in Memphis because the deal cannot be sealed until Council members approve Bass Pro's lease of the Pyramid.

Addressing the Council, Hagale said his own daughter has lived in Memphis for almost a decade, and thanked everyone for waiting five years for the very complicated agreement to be ironed out.

Ordinance would ban discrimination based on sexual orientation

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A Memphis City Council member wants to add an ordinance to the city charter that would ban discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Memphis City Councilwoman Janis Fullilove made a passionate plea to her peers Tuesday.

"It's about treating people with dignity and respect," she said.
