MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Hundreds endured the heat Monday morning at Sam Abraham Chapel to say goodbye to Jay Uiberall, a Memphis restaurateur who died suddenly over the weekend.

"A young man, 37-years-old, with an eight-month-old baby girl," said Roy Dupree, a longtime friend of Uiberall. "It's just heartbreaking."

Uiberall fell off a balcony near Pickwick Lake late Saturday night.  Dupree called his death a loss for all of Memphis.

"The guy was a visionary," he said. "He saw opportunity. He seized the moment."

Lane closures on I-40 Bridge over Mississippi River for seismic retrofit

Beginning September 7, crews will reduce the I-40 Bridge over the Mississippi River to one lane in each directioni for approximately two months.  The lane closures, which will install a new seismic expansion joint, will begin after the morning rush hour on September 7 and last until the week of November 15.

"We know this closure will be inconvenient for many motorists and businesses; however, we cannot have traffic driving over this bridge joint as crews work to replace it," said TDOT Commissioner Gerald Nicely.  "TDOT is working very closely with emergency responders and HELP units will conduct extra patrols on the two Mississippi River bridges to keep traffic moving during the lane closure period."
